Imagine your phone is ringing, texts are coming in, emails are piling up, your family has had an
emergency, there is that school event that the kids forgot to tell you about, the grandkid's birthday is this weekend, and we are entering the Christmas season. Does this sound like Peace on Earth?

It sounds more like real life sometimes. You may substitute different stresses into the previous list, but we know that being overwhelmed can come on hard and fast. What are we to do in moments likenthese?

Psalm 121:1-2 “I lift up my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.”

I Peter 5:7 “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

Now a couple of verses of scripture are not the whole answer. They are a key, however. Stress usually has to do with misdirected focus. If that is the case for you, I encourage you to stop, reset, and get back to making sure that you are focusing on God first, and all other things second. Things are still going to come fast, and we cannot do much about the speed of life, but we can decide what tools we carry with us.

I encourage you to stop for thirty seconds, breathe, and be in the presence of God. It will amaze you what He will do when He is included in your craziness.

In Him,
Pastor Scott
