We drove to Florida with a car full of family, pulled a pop-up camper, set up camp, went to Disney World, and had absolutely no stress that I can recall.  Can you believe that?  It's true!  However, I was ten years old and any stress that occurred would have been on my Mom and Dad.

Do you ever dream of those days when you had nothing to worry about and all the real stress went to someone else?  As nice as that sounds I think we rarely find that as our reality.  I saw a saying the other day that said, “Growing up has not turned out to be as fun as I thought it would be!”

I don’t pretend to have a magic formula to make stress disappear, but one thing I do have to offer is the help that Jesus promises.  He literally says we can bring our burdens to Him!  He doesn’t take them away, but as it turns out, He does carry the brunt of the load when we let Him.

One of the best things we can do is to let go of things that hurt us or stress us out and give them to God.  One of the hardest things we do is to let go of things that hurt us or stress us out and give them to God.

It is a constant tug of war for most.  The back and forth of our broken desire to wallow in our misery and feast on the drama versus the peace that God offers when we put things solely in His hands.

I don’t know why we do it.  I haven’t figured my own stubborn heart out completely.  What I do know is that in those moments that I am successful, I find peace and release every single time.

Like most things in discipleship, it takes repetition and practice to learn to change our habits and to trust.

I invite you all to start today.  Practice putting your stresses in His hands.  I am sure that you will enjoy the peace that comes as a result.

In other words, let the stress be on the One who can handle it.

In Him,

Pastor Scott
