For the past two weeks, we have talked about the ministry of healing. We have discovered from scripture
that it is definitely a ministry that God intends for us to participate in and one in which we have room to
grow. We have also looked at the fact that healing ministry is complex in that it reaches all areas of our
being.
We are told that we were made in the image of God. I believe that means that we are made in His
image in our physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychological makeup. Here is a before-and-after look at
who we were intended to be and who we became because of sin.
Physical:
Before Sin: Eternal
After Sin: Death
Spiritual:
Before Sin: We had perfect trust and fellowship with God.
After Sin: We were full of fear, guilt and shame.
Emotional:
Before Sin: We had openness and trust.
After Sin: We had alienation and the need for domination.
Psychological:
Before Sin: Security and Purpose
After Sin: Insecurity, deception and an ego-centric outlook
The good news is that we are a resurrection people. God makes broken things better than new. He paid
for our sins (By His wounds we are healed) and He restores us through the power of resurrection. This is
where we find our healing. But we also must realize that all four areas work together and can affect
each other. This is why healing can be a complex ministry. We have to be willing to allow God to heal all our areas of being.
Praise God that He is a God who loves us and heals us! Let’s be open to all that God wants to do to bring
us to our best selves so that we can serve His Kingdom well.
In Him,
Pastor Scott
