At some point in our lives everyone has heard the cry, “Grow Up!” hurled their way. I will admit,
this may apply more to men than women, but I think it is fair to say that we can all be a little
juvenile at times. There are some who may hear this more often than others and it indicates a
certain danger in these lives.
I am certainly not saying here that we should lose that inner kid that helps us enjoy life and life’s
moments. Jesus even said that our faith should be like that of a child. However, we need to be
grown ups about how we handle people, responsibilities, and emotions. Pay your bills, do your
job, don’t lose it when poked, lead your families, and so on.
In the Book of Ephesians, Paul calls us to the same thing spiritually. Grow up! Mature! Quit
getting tossed around by every idea that comes along. His understanding is that if Christians
don’t grow and act with maturity, we will never be unified in a way that will impact the world.
This one seems to hit us right between the eyes!
We need to quit acting with selfish and petty attitudes when it comes to His Kingdom. It is time
we commit, serve, give, and worship like grown Christians and stop leading with our feelings.
Let’s grow up and work together and see what God can do through a mature people!
